BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - - Brian Stewart made 28 saves for a shutout in his preseason debut to help the Bakersfield Condors send the Stockton Thunder to a 4-0 loss at Rabobank Arena on Friday.

The Thunder, who dropped to 1-1 in preseason play, sat out many of its experienced lineup in search of its seventh preseason win in eight games. Zach Cohen led Bakersfield's offense with a pair of goals.

Cohen gave the Condors a 1-0 edge at 4:57 of the opening period when he partially fanned on a one timer, but the puck deflected off traffic in the slot and slipped by goaltender Ryan Klingensmith.

The Thunder nearly tied the game later in the period on an ensuing power play, when Tony DeHart managed a deflection on net that got through Brian Stewart's legs. The Thunder celebrated an apparent 1-1 tie but officials confirmed no goal was scored.

Both teams played through a scoreless second period and the Condors led in shots, 17-9 in the middle frame.

A three goal rally by Bakersfield blew the game open to 4-0 in a span of 7:07 in the third period. Olivier Malka's point shot found its way through traffic just 53 seconds in and Cohen stashed a chance at the left post for a 3-0 Condors edge at the 7:34 mark.

On the next shift, David Toews buried a rebound after Klingensmith's stop on Parker Stanfield's wrist shot and the Condors padded their lead to 4-0, eight minutes into the period.

Klingensmith took the loss in his preseason debut with 39 stops.
