Historical Announcement for Blue Crabs & Area Coming on September 23rd

WALDORF,MD - In a 5th Anniversary season already filled with many milestones such as the one millionth fan walking through the gates, an increase in attendance, surpassing the record for number of walk off wins in a season, and new management at the helm, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, in conjunction with Chick-fil-A, have saved their biggest milestone for the season finale. The milestone will come in the form of a historical announcement that already has the community buzzing with anticipation. The announcement also comes in the midst of a playoff push that could result in the team making the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.

"This season, our motto was 'The Tide Was Rising' here with the Blue Crabs and Southern Maryland," said Blue Crabs Assistant General Manager Brian Radle. "We felt synonymous with the growth here in this area, and now it's coming right up to our door step. We are turning a page in many ways, and after September 23rd we will have an extremely exciting next chapter! It's going to be a very fun day, and we are confident everyone will walk away from the Stadium feeling great about Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Baseball now and next year!"

This Sunday's game will have a special start time of 5:05pm, but not before a truly memorable pre-game ceremony commences, and the historical announcement is made. The Blue Crabs will then take on Patrick Osborn's predecessor, Butch Hobson, and the Lancaster Barnstormers. Following the final home game of the season, the Blue Crabs will light up the sky with a post-game fireworks extravaganza presented by Wawa, along with other memorable Fan Appreciation festivities. With the Stadium gates opening at 4 pm, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the pre-game ceremony.

Tickets are still available for the final weekend series of the season, but are going fast. Fans are encouraged to pre-order their tickets by logging onto www.somdbluecrabs.com. Fans can also receive free playoff tickets by putting a deposit down on 2013 season tickets.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, and play at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland.
