SAUGET, IL - Tim Brown fired eight strong innings and the Gateway Grizzlies never trailed in a 5-2 victory against the Florence Freedom Wednesday night in game one of the Frontier League Divisional Series.

Brown (1-0) scattered seven hits and surrendered only two runs while striking out six batters. The right-hander from St. Louis, MO walked only one batter while throwing 64 off his 88 pitches for strikes. Brown received help from his outfield in the third, fourth and eighth innings. Florence (0-1) scored their only two runs of the game in the sixth on an RBI triple by Junior Arrojo and a sacrifice fly by Peter Fatse.

Richard Barrett pitched the ninth inning to earn the postseason save.
