New Jersey Jackals News Release

Fast-working Bryan Rembisz allowed only three hits in eight scoreless innings against the Jackals Saturday to give the Capitales a 4-0 win, their Can-Am record 65th of the season. They broke their own record of 64 wins in 2011.

*With two games left, the 2012 season consists of 100 games, 10 more than the Capitales played last year.

The Jackals had runners on first and second with nobody out in the first inning, but Chris Curran was picked off and Matt Cusick bounced sharply into a 6-4-3 double play to thwart New Jersey's lone threat of the ballgame. On a clear, crisp night above the border, Rembisz throws his third straight scoreless outing against New Jersey to push his record to 10-4.

Jackals starter Mike Ness allowed an RBI double to Jeff Helps in the third and a two-run home run to Ivan Naccarata an inning later. He throws seven innings but earns the loss to fall to 2-1 with New Jersey, 11-3 on the season.

Ness has thrown seven innings and allowed three runs or less in now 10 straight starts.

Curran, Francisco Caraballo, and Carlos Guzman all singled for New Jersey's only hits of the game. The team sits on 999 hits this season. No Can-Am team has ever recorded 1,000 hits in a season.

With the loss, New Jersey drops to 58-40. Quebec improves to 65-33.

This game is meaningless in the standings. Both teams have already clinched a spot in the 2012 Can-Am Championship Series with Quebec claiming home-filed advantage a few days ago. Game one of the best-of-seven series is Wednesday here in Quebec.
