Liberty & the City of Newark Host "Downtown Dribble" and Pregame Fan Fest on Saturday, September 1

NEW YORK, NY - August 30, 2012 - The New York Liberty invite fans to Prudential Center on Saturday, Sept. 1 for its second annual "Downtown Dribble." The Downtown Dribble is a collaborative effort between the Liberty and the City of Newark in support of the city's Let's Move! Newark initiative. The Liberty will host a pregame Fan Fest at Championship Plaza starting at 2 p.m. before facing off against the Washington Mystics at 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out early to participate in the festivities, which will include a one-mile walk where fans will dribble through downtown Newark to strengthen community bonds and promote a healthy and active lifestyle. The Liberty are donating 1,000 entries for the Downtown Dribble to non-profits in the City of Newark, the event is also open to the public to attend for $25 and includes a t-shirt, basketball and ticket to the Liberty game.
Partners for the event include Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), American Dairy A ssociation and D airy C ouncil, and NBA Baller Beats on Kinect⢠for Xbox 360©. Select partners will have booths set up with information about their organization, as well as games and contests promoting healthy living. Liberty Legend Teresa Weatherspoon will also participate in activities throughout the day. The Liberty is encouraging fans to participate in t he American Dairy Association and Dairy Council's Twitter contest, for which one contestant will be chosen to dribble throughout the entire game as part of the Liberty Dribble Challenge, presented by the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council. The winner will receive complimentary entry to the Downtown Dribble, a prize pack (t-shirt, basketball, etc.) and a private meet and greet with a Liberty player. Immediately following the Downtown Dribble, the Liberty will host Health & Wellness Day presented by HSS. The first 5,000 fans at Prudential Center for the game will receive an armband mp3 case courtesy of HSS.
