
Cal League Announces Three Storm as Post Season All-Stars

Lake Elsinore - The California League announced today its 2012 Post Season Awards and All-Star Team. The Lake Elsinore Storm is proud to announce pitchers Matt Andriese and Kevin Quackenbush along with designated hitter Tommy Medica have been selected representing the Storm.
On the organizational side, Head Grounds crew Peter Hayes was named Turf Manager of the Year for the second consecutive time. Hayes has now claimed the honors for the third time in four years for sustaining field excellence while maintaining the finest playing surface in the league.
Andriese, who resides locally in Redlands, CA, was the first pitcher this season to collect 10 wins in a Storm uniform. In 25 starts, Andriese is second best in the league with a 3.42 ERA while striking out 123 batters in 142 innings pitched. Andriese has the second best WHIP with a 1.18, second with a .247 opposing batting average and third in the league with an 11.13 ratio of fewest base runners per nine innings.
Quackenbush, a mid-season All-Star who represented the Storm in the California/Carolina League All-Star game, was named a full season all-star after leading all relievers with 27 saves. In 57.2 innings pitched thus far, he has 70 strikeouts, 0.94 ERA while holding opponents to a .205 batting average.
Medica, a first baseman and designated hitter, is third in the league with a .338 batting average. Medica joined the Storm in May and through 89 games, he is first in the league in doubles with 37, on-base percentage at .416 and a .633 slugging percentage. He is third in the league with 60 extra-base hits and leads the team with 18 home runs and 85 RBI. In June and July, Medica established a new franchise record with a 29-game hitting streak.
