Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - Jake Odorizzi dazzled in his starts on August 14th at Las Vegas and on August 19th against Nashville as he tossed a total of 14.0 innings, allowing just one run on six hits while punching out six batters, en-route to being revealed as the Pacific Coast League's Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 13-19. Today's announcement marks the third consecutive week, and the sixth time this season, that an Omaha Storm Chaser has been tabbed as either the PCL Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Odorizzi's impressive week started off with a win in Las Vegas during which he held the 51s off of the scoreboard while striking out four in his 7.0 innings of work. The 22-year-old followed that up with another masterful seven inning performance, this time at home against Nashville, yielding a lone run over four hits.

The right-hander, who was ranked by Baseball America as Kansas City's number four overall prospect prior to the season, has put together a solid season with his 10-2 record and 2.80 ERA in 17 Triple-A appearances. He was acquired from Milwaukee along with infielder Alcides Escobar, pitcher Jeremy Jeffress and outfielder Lorenzo Cain for starting pitcher Zack Greinke on December 19, 2010.
