RSL Seeks to End 3-Game Slide with Win over FCD

August 17, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS) Real Salt Lake

SANDY, Utah (Friday, Aug. 17, 2012) - Real Salt Lake (13-9-3, 42 pts., West #2) will look to put a stop to its three-game losing streak across all competitions on Saturday, when the Claret-and-Cobalt will host FC Dallas (7-11-8, 29 points, West #6) at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The match will be broadcast live on ABC4/ESPN700 AM starting at 7:00 p.m. MT, with postgame TV coverage starting at 9:00 p.m MT.

Real Salt Lake heads into the FC Dallas match coming off of last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Vancouver. Forwards Camilo and Dane Richards scored for Whitecaps FC, with RSL defende Nat Borchers putting in a consolation goal in second half stoppage time. The loss was RSL's third-straight across all competitions and its fifth-straight on the road across all competitions.

The game is the first in a busy three-game in six-day stretch for RSL, which will host Panamanian champions FC Tauro in a crucial CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage match on Tuesday before traveling to Philadelphia for a league match against the Union next Friday. That busy schedule combined with RSL's quartet of players who were on international duty earlier this week - MF Kyle Beckerman (US), FW Alvaro Saborio (Costa Rica) and MF Will Johnson (Canada) all played 90 minutes for their countries on Wednesday while GK Nick Rimando (US) made the 18 but didn't play in the U.S.'s 1-0 win at Mexico - could mean that head coach Jason Kreis will run out an expiremental lineup against FCD.

FC Dallas enters Saturday's match winners of its last two and unbeaten in its last three. FCD beat Whitecaps FC in Vancouver on Wednesday night, getting a pair of goals in the span of 10 minutes to win 2-0. Dallas beat Colorado 3-2 in its previous match, scoring three times in the span of 10 minutes - that's five goals scored in a 20 minute span in their last two matches, for those counting - to down the Rapids at FC Dallas Stadium last Saturday.

Dallas also had players on international duty earlier this week, with Brek Shea (US), Julian de Guzman (Canada) and Carlos Rodriguez (Panama) all getting called up to their respective national teams. Shea played the final 12 minutes in the US-Mexico game, de Guzman played all 90 for Canada in their 2-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago and Rodriguez came on as a sub in Panama's 2-0 loss at Portugal.
