Rookie Forward Cody Esposito Signs with Oilers

August 14, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers announced today the signing of rookie forward Cody Esposito for the upcoming 2012-13 Central Hockey League season.

Esposito, a 6'4" 225-pound left wing, is the fourth rookie the Oilers have signed this offseason. The Airdrie, Alberta native comes to the Oilers from the University of Regina where he played the 2010-11 season and finished with two goals and three assists in 18 games. Prior to his time in Regina, Esposito played five years of Canadian junior hockey in the AJHL, WHL, and MJHL.

"Cody is a big, physical forward who will bring some toughness to our club," said Oilers Head Coach Bruce Ramsay. "He can be very effective for us on the forecheck by using his size and speed to possess the puck and he's just a solid, all-around hockey player."

After his season in Regina, Esposito had thoughts of hanging up his skates for good. The 23-year old kept playing at the senior AAA level and rediscovered his passion for the game.

"I got in touch with the fun of the game again," remarked Esposito. "I realized there's still some fire there and it motivated me to keep training. I have the hunger back and I'm extremely excited to be heading to Tulsa."

Even though his collegiate career lasted only one season, Esposito knows it was an experience that will serve him well as he takes this first step as a professional.

"I'm a lot more mature now than I was before I went to school," Esposito said. "I know the CHL has been getting stronger over the last couple of years and I know it's extremely competitive at that level, but I think I'm well prepared for what I'm going to face and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

The Oilers home opener is October 26 and season tickets are on sale now. For more information on pricing and group rates, call 918-632-PUCK. Log on to www.tulsaoilers.com to stay up to date with player signings and announcements.
