Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that goaltender Mitch O'Keefe has agreed to terms with the team and will be returning to Las Vegas for the 2012-13 season.
O'Keefe, 28, led the Wranglers to a 5-0 start in the 2012 Kelly Cup playoffs, including a three-game sweep of the Utah Grizzlies in the first round. The 6'2'', 210-pound goalie finished the 2011-12 season, his first with Las Vegas, with a 10-9-2 regular-season record (5-1-0 in playoff games), 2.74 goals-against average and 0.903 save percentage.
"Mitch was a huge reason why we advanced in the Kelly Cup playoffs," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel. "He's an amazing teammate and I'm very excited to see Mitch stay healthy and continue the success he had last year."
The Almont, Ontario native graduated from Ferris State University in 2008 after being named Rookie of the Year in 2005-06. Before coming to Las Vegas, O'Keefe appeared in net for the ECHL's Elmira Jackals (2008-09) and Grizzlies (2009-10), and spent the 2010-11 season overseas with HK Jesenice of the Austrian Hockey League.
