Round Rock Express Music City Showdown Judges Announced

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express Baseball Club announced today three judges for its Music City Showdown promotion. Singers Timothy Curry and Pauline Reese, and music agent Mark Roeder make up the panel that will judge contestants in an amateur vocalist competition providing once lucky winner a trip to Nashville and the chance of a lifetime to hit it big in Music City.One grand prize winner will be selected by audition and will receive a trip for two to Nashville to perform live in a showcase at The Stage on Broadway. The winner could have a potential exclusive opportunity to earn a music publishing contract through Lawrence Music Group. The package also will include a Music City welcome gift bag, Music City Backstage Pass and other prizes.
Curry is a veteran gospel and jazz singer who recently toured with Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel fame in Benson's play "A Ride with Bob". He continues to play with Asleep at the Wheel on a regular basis. The Tim Curry Trio plays a mixture of old soul, eclectic Texas originals and jazz standards; the music of songwriter Will Dunlap spans more than three decades. Their latest album, Wapango Blues, featured several hits, including "Pretty Little Woman" and "What Happened to the A".
Reese was named 2012 Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year by the Texas Music Association; it was her second entertainer of the year honor from the organization. Her alt-country sound has allowed Reese to etch her name in the Texas music scene touring with notable acts such as Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler, Cory Morrow and Pat Green. Her sixth and latest album, Just Getting Started, was co-produced by Justin Pollard, co-writer of Green's "Wave on Wave". Willie Nelson called Reese his "favorite female artist."
Roeder is Vice President for William Morris Endeavors, among the world's oldest and largest talent agencies with offices in Beverly Hills, New York, Nashville, London and Miami. WME has represented numerous talents through the years, including the Marx Brothers, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Bill Cosby, the Beach Boys, Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam. A far-reaching talent agency, WME also works with athletes for endorsement deals; that list includes Tim Tebow, Serena Williams and Kevin Garnett.
Aspiring vocalists are encouraged to submit recordings and apply online through www.RoundRockExpress.com. Entries will be accepted through Monday, Aug. 13. A group of 12 semifinalists will be chosen from applications and will face off at The Stage on Sixth in Austin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Each semifinalist will get one song to demonstrate his or her vocal abilities and showmanship in front of a panel of judges and a live audience.
Four finalists will emerge and compete at The Dell Diamond immediately following the Thursday, Aug. 23, game between the Express and Nashville Sounds. The grand prize winner will be selected after a single live performance from the four finalists based on a cumulative vote of the judging panel and a composite vote of fans in attendance.
