Drillers Drop Second Straight in Little RockJuly 21, 2012 - Texas League (TL) Tulsa Drillers
Tulsa starter Parker Frazier allowed nine hits and three runs in six innings of work while striking out two.
Corey Dickerson started the scoring in the fourth with a long fly ball down the right field line and over the wall for his sixth homer of the season with the Drillers and fifteenth overall in 2012.
Travelers second baseman Renny Osuna singled on a ground ball to right field to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Ryan Mount then stepped to the plate and gave his best Dickerson impression driving a ball over the right field wall to take a 2-1 lead.
Singles to right field by Roberto Lopez and Casey Haerther continued the Travs rally in the inning. Brian Hernandez then bunted to third baseman Nolan Arenado for the sacrifice to move the runners to second and third. With the Drillers infield on the grass, Carlos Ramirez singled past shortstop Warren Schaeffer and into left field scoring Lopez and advancing Haerther to third. Frazier was able to get Angel Castillo to ground out to third to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Angels top prospect Jean Segura led off with a triple into the right-center field gap. Manager Duane Espy brought his infield in once again and it paid off. Travis Witherspoon grounded out to Schaeffer at short for the first out. With the infield still in, Osuna lined out to Schaeffer at short who threw to Arenado at third to double off Segura to end the fifth inning threat.
The Drillers were unable to mount a comeback in the top of the ninth and dropped their third game in as many nights and second against the Travs.
Josh Sullivan and Mike Marbry both contributed a scoreless inning in relief of Frazier.
Tulsa will send left-hander Josh Outman (1-1, 3.38 ERA) to the mound to face Arkansas pitcher Matt Oye (2-5, 4.46 ERA) on Sunday evening. Start time at Dickey Stevens Park is 6:00 PM.
