Forward Kyle Rogers Returns to ToledoJuly 20, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) Toledo Walleye
"I'm ready to get this season underway and play again in front of the great Walleye fans," said Kyle Rogers. "Last season was a disappointment that we didn't make the playoffs, and I am going to do my best to make sure we get there this time around. I have really enjoyed playing for the coaching staff here in Toledo (Toledo Walleye Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Toledo Walleye Assistant Coach Dan Watson). I know the team will be ready to go in October."
Rogers appeared in every game last season with Toledo, setting career highs in goals (20) and points with 44. Kyle also scored five game-winning goals during the season, including two overtime game winners on back to back Sunday afternoons. (February 12 vs. Cincinnati and February 19 at Greenville) Rogers was named Captain prior to start of last year.
"Kyle is a dominant force on both sides of the puck," Vitucci said. "This past season we saw the offensive part of his game really blossom. He is a tremendous leader and an important part of this team going forward."
Prior to skating with the Walleye, Rogers spent two seasons with the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League. Kyle has appeared in 284 professional games in his career, including two last season with St. Johns in the American Hockey League. The native of Philadelphia, PA also spent three years at Niagara University, where he appeared in 97 games and collected 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists).
The Toledo Walleye will open the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday, October 13th at home against the Kalamazoo Wings. 2012-13 ticket plans are on sale now online at www.toledowalleye.com, or by phone at (419) 725-9255.
