JAMESTOWN, NY --- Anthony Gomez went 2-for-4 with two runs and a key two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Jamestown Jammers helld off a Vermont ninth-inning rally for a three-game sweep of the Lake Monsters with a 6-5 New York-Penn League victory on Friday night at Diethrick Park .With a 1-0 lead in the sixth Jamestown loaded the bases with no outs on a pair of singles and a walk off Vermont reliever Stuart Pudenz, who almost escaped the inning after getting the Jammers to bounce into their second pitcher-to-catcher-to-first double play of the game. But Gomez followed with a two-run single to center and then scored on a Cameron Flynn RBI double for a 4-0 Jamestown lead.
The Jammers added another run in both the seventh and eighth innings, while Rhett Stafford hit a solo homer in the top of the eighth, for a 6-1 lead heading to the ninth. Vermont was able to load the bases with a pair of one-out singles and a walk before a Jacob Tanis RBI single and Miguel Marte sacrifice fly cut the Jammer lead to 6-3.
