Huntsville Stars News Release

JACKSON, Tenn. - A night after starting the second half of their season off with a win, the Huntsville Stars lost to the Jackson Generals by a score of 7-4 on Friday night at Pringles Park.

For the second time in as many nights, the Stars were able to take the lead early. In the first inning, shortstop Tommy Manzella walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. A RBI double by first baseman Hunter Morris off of Generals starter Forrest Snow gave Huntsville a 1-0 lead.

However, that lead would not last long. In the bottom half of the first inning, an RBI single from Generals designated hitter Joe Dunigan tied the game up at one apiece. Then, in the second inning, a wild pitch from Stars starting pitcher Evan Anundsen allowed left fielder Chris Pettit to score from third. Second baseman Stefan Romero cranked a RBI double to put Jackson up by a score of 3-1.

The Stars scored a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Lee Haydel and Jackson returned with a run in the fifth on a RBI single by Pettit. Huntsville continued their comeback in the sixth inning. Following a single by designated hitter Scott Kreiger and a walk by left fielder Kentrail Davis, a two-run double by catcher Anderson De La Rosa plated both of the runners to tie up the game at 4-4.

Unfortunately, it was all Generals the rest of the way. Third baseman Nick Tenbrink led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk, followed by a two-out, two-run home run by Dunigan off of Stars reliever Santo Manzanillo to give Jackson a 6-4 lead. The Generals added their final insurance run in the seventh on a RBI single by Tenbrink.

For the Stars on the pitching side, Manzanillo was tabbed with the loss, falling to 0-4 on the year. In his first start since coming off a two-week stint on the disabled list, Anundsen gave up five runs and eleven hits in five innings of work.

On offense, the Stars were paced by Kreiger, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Both Morris and De Le Rosa added two hits. For Morris, his first inning double was his second two-bagger in as many nights and his league-leading 25th on the season.

On Saturday, the Stars will send RHP Kyle Heckathorn (2-6, 4.24 ERA) to the mound to square off against LHP Anthony Fernandez, his Double-A debut, for game three of a five-game series. First pitch is at 6:05 PM.
