Bluefish Swept by Barnstormers

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 10, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (19-24) gave up two runs in the eighth and suffered a loss as the Lancaster Barnstormers (26-17) won by a score of 3-1 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Sunday.

With a runner at second base, in the eighth, Jaime Pedroza knocked in the go-ahead run with a single to left. Pedroza reached base three times on the day. Later in the frame, Adam Godwin drove in an insurance run with a single to center. Godwin drove in two runs on the day.

Kennard Jones reached base four times for the Bluefish which included the only multiple hit game for the home team. Angel Flores drove in the only Bluefish run on Sunday on a single to left to bring Brock Peterson to the plate. Flores reached base twice in the game.

Bridgeport starter, Paul Oseguera, completed five innings and allowed one run on two hits and three walks while fanning three. The southpaw did not factor in the decision. Joe Bateman relieved Oseguera and tossed two shutout frames while giving up two hits and a walk while fanning three. Rommie Lewis (2-1) suffered the loss as the lefthanded reliever surrendered two runs on four hits and struck out two in retiring a couple of batters in the eighth. Wynn Pelzer finished the game by allowing a single and a walk in an inning-and-a-third.

Lancaster starter, Alan Johnson, worked six-and-a-third innings while giving up one run on six hits and three walks while striking out two; but the righthander did not factor in the decision. Mike Johnston, Jeff Bennett (3-2), and Tim Hamulack combined for four innings of scoreless baseball while allowing a hit and two walks; Bennett picked up the win while Hamulack collected his ninth save of the year.

Bridgeport starts a three-game series against the Camden Riversharks on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Bridgeport will send righthanded starter, Raymar Diaz (0-5, 11.96 ERA) to the mound.
