Chiang Returns to Jackson, Phillips to Class-A Clinton

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (MAY 26, 2012) - The Seattle Mariners have made the following roster move that affects the Jackson Generals roster. OF Chih-Hsien Chiang has been activated to the Generals roster from Triple-A Tacoma and INF Anthony Phillips has been transferred to Class-A Clinton of the Midwest League.

CHIANG, 24, returns to the Jackson roster after playing in 40 games for Triple-A Tacoma. Chiang, a member of the Mariners 40-man roster batted .245, with 2 home runs, 6 doubles and 11 RBI with the Rainiers. Chiang was on the opening day roster for the Generals played in 3 games, batting .111 (1x9), with no homers or RBI before being promoted to Tacoma on April 9.

PHILLIPS, 22, returns to Class-A Clinton after playing in just 3 games with the Generals and was 0-for-2 at the plate. Phillips was batting .210, with 1 home run and 5 RBI with the LumberKings.

The Generals roster stands at 25 active players, and 3 disabled.
