Fort Worth Cats News Release
Fort Worth, Texas --- The 2012 regular season is less than a week away and spring training at LaGrave Field thus far has been a success. The Fort Worth Cats are ready for their 2012 campaign to get underway.
To gear up for the much-anticipated season, The Fort Worth Cats play two exhibition games against the DFW All-Star team tonight and tomorrow (both at 7pm). Season ticket holders are invited to attend the exhibition games at no charge; all other fans can purchase $3 tickets at the box office window; parking is $5. Dodger, the Cats' mascot, will be attending the exhibition games and entertaining fans as they sit back, enjoy the concessions, and watch baseball from right in Fort Worth's backyard.
Manager and former Texas Ranger Curtis Wilkerson has recruited former Texas Ranger Jeff Russell to help coach the new Fort Worth Cats team during the exhibition games. Also returning to coach is former Major League player, manager, and Coach Wayne "Twig" Terwilliger. Twig managed the Cats from 2002-2005 and brings with him 60 plus years of professional baseball experience. Another former Ranger, shortstop Benji Gill, agreed to mentor the Cats' squad during spring training practice.
The Fort Worth Cats are providing a family-friendly atmosphere to watch hometown baseball right in the heart of Fort Worth at an affordable price. With an all-new ownership and front office, the Cats' 2012 squad should make for a great year of baseball. The Cats open their 124th season on Wednesday May 23, at 7:05 p.m. at historic LaGrave Field versus the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. All ticket information, including season tickets and group packages, are available at 817-332-CATS as well as online at www.fwcats.com.
