(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club in conjunction with the Province of British Columbia and supporting partner Enbridge are pleased to announce that the third annual Lions Pride Flag Football Tournament will kick off this Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at BC Place.
In partnership with the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division of the Ministry of Public Safety and supporting partner Enbridge, Lions Pride is an outreach program highlighting the importance of making positive choices and choosing alternate activities to gang involvement.
As part of the Lions Pride initiative, a four-team flag football league comprised of youth from the communities of Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford and Burnaby held practices led by a number of notable Lions players throughout the month of April, culminating in Saturday's tournament. In addition, all individuals selected to participate in the flag football program will be provided with tickets for the 2012 season at BC Place.
"I am very proud to kick off our third annual Lions Pride Flag Football Tournament on Saturday," said Lions director of community relations Jamie Taras. "These young athletes have been working very hard over the past month in preparation for the tournament and I look forward to enjoying a great day of fun and football with our Lions Pride teams."
Kicking off in February, the Lions visited 22 high schools throughout the communities of Surrey, Abbotsford, Richmond, New Westminster, Delta and Vancouver, and made an additional eight stops in the Interior communities of Prince George and Kelowna.
