Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - The Lancaster JetHawks won their third straight game over the Quakes, downing Rancho Cucamonga by a final of 8-2 on Wednesday night at The Hangar in Lancaster.

The win for the JetHawks moves them out of last place in the South Division, a half-game in front of the Quakes.

Wednesday's game was highlighted by a pair of big-league rehabbers, although both Todd Coffey and Ronald Belisario helped to put the Quakes in an early hole.

Coffey (0-1), currently on the Dodgers' disabled list, gave up a double to Rafael Valenzuela and then a run-scoring hit to George Springer in the first, as the JetHawks took a 1-0 lead.

Belisario gave up a lead-off double to Jonathan Meyer to open the second. Two batters later, Enrique Hernandez drove home Meyer with a sac fly, making it 2-0.

Wednesday's originally scheduled starter, Angel Sanchez came on in the fourth and looked sharp. Sanchez worked two scoreless frames before conceding a solo homer to Telvin Nash in the sixth, his league-leading ninth of the year to make it 3-0.

The Quakes finally got on the board against Lancaster starter Wes Musick (2-1) in the seventh, as Chris O'Brien popped his first round-tripper of the year, making it 3-1. After Musick walked Tyler Henson, he gave up a one-out double to C.J. Retherford, plating Henson to bring the Quakes to within a run at 3-2. The Quakes actually had a chance to tie, but Retherford was thrown out at the plate on Alexis Aguilar's slow roller to second.

Sanchez got roughed up in the seventh, as the first six JetHawks all reached safely. Meyer's two-run single capped the five-run frame, as the JetHawks took a commanding 8-2 lead.

Rancho couldn't manage a base-runner the rest of the way, as they went six-up and six-down against the Lancaster bullpen over the final two innings.

The Quakes (8-13) look to break their three-game skid on Thursday, as they attempt to salvage the final game of the four-game set. Zach Lee (1-1) is scheduled to take on Jorge De Leon (0-3) at 7:00pm in the series-finale.

On Tuesday, May 1st, the Quakes will return to The Epicenter, hosting Inland Empire and Lake Elsinore as part of a six-game home stand. Tickets are available at 909-481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter...Go Quakes!
