Shock's Ossai to CFL, Shock Assigned DB Vonzell McDowellApril 25, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) Spokane Shock
"We couldn't be more happy for Ben, " Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden said. "He worked extremely hard in the offseason preparing for this opportunity and that hard work was rewarded with a CFL contract. Helping our players get to the next level is a priority for us and we take pride in doing it. It's always bittersweet to say goodbye to a player like Ben, but it's something we've worked on for a long time."
Ossai Leaves Hole in Offensive Line, to be filled with strong Rookie talent
No decision has been formerly announced, but it's expected that the favorite to replace Ossai in Spokane's lineup is rookie OT Cory Brandon. After a successful collegiate career with the Oklahoma Sooners, Brandon signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011 before arriving in Spokane.
Spokane Shock Head Coach Andy Olson said, "Cory had a terrific training camp with us until he got injured. His length and footwork make it very hard for defensive ends to get around him and we don't expect to miss beat with him in the lineup. He's going to be a very good player for us and we're excited to see what he's capable of."
Shock Assigned Rookie Washington Defensive Back Vonzell McDowell
