
Blaze Assigned Two Arena Football Veterans

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze have been assigned WR Maurice Bryant and DB LaBrose Hedgemon, the team announced Tuesday. Bryant played under current Blaze President & Head Coach Ron James in 2004 with the Las Vegas Gladiators. Hedgemon returns to the team after starting 16 games for Utah in 2011.
"Maurice is a veteran of indoor football and knows the nuances of the game," said President & Head Coach Ron James. "LaBrose was with us in training camp and understands how to play in this system. Both players should be able to contribute immediately, which is extremely beneficial to our team at this point in the season."
Bryant (6-0, 200, Houston) entered the Arena Football League in 2000 as a member of the Arizona Rattlers, where he played for four seasons. He then joined Coach James in Las Vegas with the Gladiators in 2004, and returned to the team in 2006 for his most recent AFL seasn. Bryant has totaled 213 receptions for 2,770 yards and 62 touchdowns in six AFL seasons.
Hedgemon (5-10, 190, Jackson State) was assigned to the Blaze late during the 2010 season. He returned to the team in 2011 and started 16 games in the secondary. Hedgemon registered 72.5 total tackles, 1.0 stop for an eight-yard loss, one interception, eight pass breakups, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles.
