
Bandits Plan Pro Sports Career Day for April 26

DAVENPORT, Iowa (APRIL 16, 2012) - Students interested in careers in the professional sports industry will have a unique opportunity to meet and network with professionals in the local sports industry of the Quad Cities and the surrounding area as part of an event at Modern Woodmen Park Thursday, April 26, before the River Bandits game against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The River Bandits management team will present the first-ever Pro Sports Career Day, an educational workshop that will include a tour of Modern Woodmen Park and a lineup of speakers who will share about their work behind the scenes in sports and how they got started in their given fields.
"The Pro Sports Career Day will be a great opportunity for students in the Quad Cities area to learn more about the excitement and opportunities of career paths in professional sports," said team owner Dave Heller. "We are also very excited that this event will help students develop relationships with sports professionals in the Quad Cities and learn about the skills they will need to be successful as the next generation of sports industry leaders."
Speakers for the Pro Sports Career Day will include:

. Jay Kidwell, CBS4 Sports Director
. Ray Shovlain, St. Ambrose University Athletic Director, Head Men's Basketball Coach and Professor of Business
. Molly Reis, Western Illinois University Director of Sports Medicine
. Mike Zapolski, Augustana College Director of Athletics
Students will be able to ask questions, network and interact with speakers before and during the River Bandits' 7 p.m. game against the West Michigan Whitecaps. Participants will have exclusive access to the triple suite at Modern Woodmen Park that night.
The event begins at 3:30 p.m., and registration is just $15 per participant, which includes a suite-level ticket to the River Bandits' April 26 game, a tour of the stadium, the professional sports speaker series and 5 Bandits Bucks, which can be used for any ticket, concessions or merchandise purchase at Modern Woodmen Park.
