RHP Zeller joins Tennessee; Hatley placed on DL

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon that RHP Joseph Zeller has been added to the team's active roster. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Marcus Hatley has been placed on the disabled list. Both moves are immediate, with Zeller being available for this afternoon's game in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Smokies active roster is set at 25, which is the Southern League maximum.

Zeller, 24, joins the Smokies for the first time in his career. Seeing his first action in 2012, the right-hander spent the 2011 season with the Rookie-level Mesa Cubs and the Single-A Boise Hawks. Zeller held a 2-0 record with a 2.53 ERA in 14 appearances (one start). The Long Beach, Calif. native was selected by the Cubs in the 28th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Hatley, 24, was 3-0 with a 4.66 ERA in 22 relief appearances for Tennessee in 2011. He also spent time in 2011 with the Single-A Peoria Chiefs and Single-A Daytona Cubs. The Honolulu, Hawaii native was the Cubs 39th round selection in the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
