Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators shut out the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-0 on Wednesday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
Robin Lehner made 41 saves for the B-Sens to earn his second shutout of the season and move into double-digits in wins as he improved to 10-19-1 on the season.
The B-Sens got on the board in the first as they capitalized on one of two power play opportunities in the period. With Bridgeport's Brett Gallant serving a slashing minor, Pat Cannone's quick shot from the right circle found the back of the net at the 15:44 mark. Derek Grant and Mike Hoffman drew the assists on the play.
Just past the midway point of the third period, Andre Petersson would be awarded a penalty shot after being taken down on a breakaway attempt. Petersson skated in and beat Kevin Poulin five-hole to increase the B-Sens' lead to two.
In the final minute of regulation, with Poulin pulled in favor of an extra attacker, Cannone capped off the scoring as his clearing attempt found Bridgeport's empty net with 38 seconds to go.
Binghamton ended the night 1-for-6 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The B-Sens are next in action on Friday as they travel to Rochester to take on the Amerks. Game time is 7:35 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM). Voice of the B-Sens Grady Whittenburg will have the call beginning 30 minutes before game time as he hosts Countdown to Faceoff.
