
Skyforce Rebounds to Defeat 66ers

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Feb. 19, 2012) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Tulsa 66ers 100-96 Sunday afternoon at the Sioux Falls Arena. After a first half that saw 13 lead changes, Sioux Falls took control in the second half leading by as many as 19 points.
Both teams went back and forth in the first quarter and Tulsa (16-19) led 27-26 after one. Jerome Dyson had nine of his 11 points in the first, before leaving the game with a leg injury in the second quarter. Both teams continued to exchange buckets in the second until Sioux Falls (9-24) went on an 8-0 run to take a 47-38 lead late in the first half.
Tulsa responded with an 11-4 run to end the first half, trimming Sioux Falls' lead to 51-49 at halftime. The run was ignited when Robert Vaden found Marcus Lewis for an easy dunk and Tulsa finished the half with the momentum on their side.
The third quarter belonged to Sioux Falls as they outscored Tulsa 31-16. Anthony Mason, Jr. scored 11 of his 18 points in the third and Sioux Falls took an 82-65 lead after three. A late run by Tulsa cut the deficit to 99-96 with a little over half a minute left to play. Needing one more stop, Tulsa forced a missed shot by Mason, Jr. only to see Trey Gilder grab the offensive rebound and get fouled on the putback attempt. Gilder converted 1-of-2 free throws to seal the victory for Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls was active on the boards all game, outrebounding Tulsa 47-28.
Gilder recorded his second straight double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds and also added a season-high seven assists. Brian Hamilton came off the bench to contribute 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
Larry Owens led Tulsa in scoring with 24 points while also grabbing five rebounds. Lewis had 23 points on 11-of-14 field goals.
Sioux Falls visits Dakota tomorrow at 7 p.m. CT. Tulsa returns home to play Maine Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT.
