Strong Finish Pushes Dakota Past Erie, 128-118

Erie, Pennsylvania, Sunday, February 12- In a game that was postponed from Saturday night due to inclement weather conditions, the Dakota Wizards (14-14) caught fire in the fourth quarter. For the majority of the game, the Erie BayHawks (14-16) held leads of various sizes. The final frame was a different story as Dakota shot 75% from the floor (15-20) and recorded 13 points off five Erie turnovers.

Erie jumped out to a nine point lead in the first stanza before Dakota cut the advantage to three by the end of the quarter. The second frame was more back-and-forth than the first and the BayHawks took a two point lead into halftime. After the break, Erie grew it's lead to seven points before Dakota went on a 9-0 run to jump ahead by two with five minutes remaining. The BayHawks and Wizards traded baskets and the lead for the remainder of the quarter before the BayHawks took a one point advantage into the final frame. Erie jumped out to a six point lead behind eight points from Keith McLeod halfway through the final quarter. Following a Kyle Goldcamp jumpshot that put Erie in front 105-100, Dakota went on a 22-5 run before downing the BayHawks by a final score of 128-118.

Erie's Mike James and Keith McLeod led all scorers with 28 points each. Also scoring double-digit point totals for the BayHawks were Mychel Thompson (15), Tirrell Baines (13), Kyle Goldcamp (12) and Kyle Spain (10). Dakota was led by the league's fifth leading scorer, Edwin Ubiles who poured in 27 points. He was aided by six other Wizards who scored double-digits.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday, February 18 in Erie. Dakota will stop in Maine for a contest against the Red Claws on Thursday, February 16. Saturday night is Ladies Night, presented by Charisma Salon. Penelec will present an acrobatic performance by the widely renowned Anton Brothers and Taco Bell will be giving away free Crunchy Tacos to the first 1,000 fans.
