Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Ryan McKay turned away all 25 Waterloo Black Hawks chances as the Green Bay Gamblers claimed a 3-0 win on home ice Tuesday.
The Gamblers recorded the lone goal of the opening period at 10:37. Alex Broadhust fed the puck from the right wing faceoff dot across to the same spot on the left side, where Andrew Welinski had crept up from the point and snapped a wrist shot into the net.
Green Bay added to their lead late in the second period. Just after a power play ended, a puck caromed to Sheldon Dries off of a shot block; Dries lifted it under the crossbar at 14:49. With 48.5 seconds remaining before intermission, Sam Herr struck again for Green Bay, trickling a shot over the goal line after a turnover in the slot.
The Hawks could not break the shutout in the closing minutes of regulation, with two power play opportunities turned away. It was the third time they have been shutout this season, and the second at the hands of Green Bay.
Waterloo remains on the road this weekend, traveling to meet the Sioux City Musketeers Friday and the Omaha Lancers Saturday. Both games begin at 7:05.
