
Knighthawks' McCready and Jamieson Named All-Star Starters

(Rochester, February 6)... Rochester Knighthawks Cody Jamieson and Pat McCready have been selected as East Division starters for the 2012 All-Star Game, presented by Reebok Lacrosse. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 th in Buffalo at First Niagara Center. The game will air on ESPN3.
Jamieson, 24, earns the starting nod for the first time in his career. In his All-Star debut last season, he netted four goals and chipped in one assist. The Six Nations product is riding impressive streaks in goal-scoring (13), assists (12) and points (21). Last Saturday, he set a career high with six assists in a game and tied his single-game best with nine points. Jamieson now ranks second in the NLL in points (36) and goals (16), and third in assists (20).
"It feels great. It is definitely a surprise with this only being my second year in the league," said Jamieson. "I am humbled and excited to play with some of the best players in the world."
In 2011, the first-overall selection was named to the NLL All-Rookie Team, while leading all rookies with 53 points. Jamieson also led the Knighthawks with 28 goals. In the summer of 2011, he won a silver medal with the Iroquois team at the 2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. He capped off his performance in Prague with Transition Player of the tournament and All-World honors. Jamieson played his college lacrosse at Syracuse University and scored the OT game-winning goal in the 2009 National Championship Game.
McCready will make his second straight start in the NLL All-Star Game and third appearance in the prestigious event. At the 2011 All-Star Game, he served as an alternate captain. The Knighthawks' team captain currently ranks fourth in the NLL with 34 loose balls.
"Obviously, I am excited again," he said. "It is a great honor and I hope I can represent the Rochester defense at the game."
Last season, McCready captured the NLL Defensive Player of the Year Award, as he led the team with 101 loose balls. The St. Catharines, Ontario, native also notched 18 points in 15 games, which was second among league defensemen. McCready also shared team Defensive Player of the Year honors with Sid Smith. McCready, 37, ranks in the league's Top 10 in four individual categories. He ranks third all-time in loose balls (1,533), second in penalty minutes (461) and ninth in games played (205). For his career, he has 373 points (136+237) and two NLL Championship rings: 1997 with Rochester and 2008 with Buffalo.
The Rochester Knighthawks and Minnesota Swarm will get back at it again on Sunday, February 12 th at 3:00 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center. Rochester defeated Minnesota 16-14 on February 4 th to improve to 2-3. Sunday's game will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
