Lordo Headed to Penn State Next Season

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that captain defenseman Joseph Lordo has committed to Penn State University for the 2012-13 season. He becomes the 9th Stampede player to commit to a Division I school. Lordo will be part of the Nittany Lions inaugural season as a Division I program. Penn State will begin play at the Division I level next season and will join the all-new Big Ten Conference for the 2013-14 season.

Lordo, who recently celebrated his 21st birthday, is in his second season with the Stampede. The St. Louis, MO native has 12 points (3g, 9a) in 34 games this season with the Herd. Last year, Lordo tallied 10 points (3g, 7a) and was a +14 in 59 games and was a key part in the Stampede's run to the Western Conference Finals. He was acquired by the Stampede during the 2010 USHL Draft after spending time in the NAHL.

Penn State will play in the 200,000-square foot, 6,000-seat state-of-the-art Pegula Ice Arena starting with the 2013-14 season. The Nittany Lions are coached by Guy Gadowsky who is in his first season. He spent the past seven years leading Princeton to NCAA Tournament berths in 2008 and 2009. He also guided Princeton to an ECAC Hockey title in 2008 and was named Inside College Hockey National Coach of the Year that season as well.
