Sharks Assign Goaltender Antero Niittymaki to Worcester for Conditioning

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Antero Niittymaki to the Worcester Sharks on a conditioning assignment.

Niittymaki, 31, posted a 12-7-3 record with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage for San Jose in 2010-11. In 234 career NHL games with Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and San Jose, he has a 95-86-31 record with a 2.95 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and five shutouts.

The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Turku, Finland was signed by San Jose as a free agent on July 1, 2010.
