
San Jose Assigns Goaltender Alex Stalock to Thunder

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced San Jose has assigned goaltender Alex Stalock (STAY-lock) to the Thunder from the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.
The Thunder hosts Las Vegas at Stockton Arena for a three game series on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Stockton Arena Ticket Office or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Stalock, 24, earned a win in his NHL debut last season with San Jose on Feb. 1 against Phoenix and was selected by the Sharks in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The 6-foot and 180-pound goaltender last appeared in 41 games for Worcester in 2010-11 and went 19-17-7 with a goals against average of 2.63 and a save percentage of .907.
Stalock was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team and selected to the All-Star Game in 2009-10 when he set an AHL rookie goaltending record with 39 wins. He led the league in minutes played (3.534), notched a .908 save percentage, four shutouts and was 39-19-4 in 61 games.
The native of South St. Paul, Minn. was an All-WCHA First Team selection as a 2008-09 junior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA), where he suited up for three seasons and was 39-44-17 with a .910 save percentage and 2.48 goals-against-average.
As a college teammate of Thunder left winger Jordan Fulton, he helped guide the Bulldogs to the NCAA West Regional Finals in 2008-09 while breaking the program record for goals-against-average (2.13), save percentage (.924) and shutouts (5).
The Thunder placed goaltender Thomas Heemskerk on the three day injured reserve list. Heemskerk, 21, has appeared in 13 games this season, posting an 8-5-0 record, .894 save percentage and 3.22 goals-against-average.
