Frisco, TX - The Texas Legends will honor the Hall-Of-Fame basketball career of Marques Haynes by hanging a banner in his honor on January 28th when the Legends play the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Haynes is the first Harlem Globetrotter to be inducted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall-of-Fame as a player. Haynes is also enshrined in over ten other Hall-of-Fames, including the NAIA Hall-of-Fame and the Oklahoma Sports Hall-of-Fame.

"Marques Haynes is global icon for the game of basketball" commented Legends Owner and Dallas Mavericks General Manager Donnie Nelson. "He is easily one of the greatest basketball players of all time and we're incredibly lucky to have him as part of our organization."

Haynes is widely considered the greatest dribbler of all-time and a major influence on the likes of Bob Cousy, "Pistol" Pete Maravich, and many more. According to the "Guinness Book of World Records" no one has matched nor surpassed Marques Haynes for the number of dribbles per minute record.

"The way he dribbled the ball was mesmerizing. It's truly unmatched in today's game," said Nelson.

Haynes will join Nancy Lieberman, Del Harris and Spud Webb in the Texas Legends Hall of Fame.

"I am humbled and honored to be a part of the Texas Legends Hall of Fame," said Marques Haynes. "Working with the Legends has been a great experience, but the retiring of my 'jersey' makes it that much more special."

The Legends next home game is on Wednesday, January 18th at 7:00PM when Texas plays the Tulsa 66ers on HP Court at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco.
