
Nichols Records Fifth Shutout of Season

DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia - Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.) and Matt Cope (Lakewood, Colo.) each scoreda third-period goal, and Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) did the rest for the Wenatchee Wild in a 2-0 victory Friday over the Dawson Creek Rage. Nichols stopped all 27 of Dawson Creek's shots to record his 12th win and fifth shutout of the season.
Nichols' fifth shutout of the seasontied the individual single-season record that Brandon Jaeger set in 2010-11.
Wenatchee scored the only goal itwould need 8:59 into the third period when Pauly finished off a 2-on-1 byblasting in Trace Redmond's (McKinney,Texas) pass from point-blank range after the Rage coughed up the puck in theneutral zone. The goal was Pauly's 11th of the season.
Cope added an empty-netter latein the third on a shot from the center line. Nichols earned the lone assist on themarker.
Edward Dyson made 36 saves on 38shots for the Rage. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the man-advantage.
The Wild (18-10-4) and Rage (8-26-2)will square off in Game 2 of the weekend series Saturday at 6 p.m. (PST). Game3 is schedule to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday. Both games will be broadcast live on560 AM KPQ with Chris Hansen and Pat Norlin calling the action.
