RiverKings Win Overtime Thriller

Biloxi, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings came from behind in an overtime thriller to beat the Surge 3-2 as Ken Selby led the way with two goals in Biloxi.

The RiverKings got the scoring started as Ken Selby hammered home a Paul D'Agrostino rebound past Corey Milan to give the 'Kings a 1-0 lead just 1:51 into the second period.

But the Surge came battling back. At the 7:03 mark, Scott Jenks ripped a shot through traffic and beat Scott Darling glove side to tie the game at one. The Surge kept on coming late in the second as Matt Kinnunen deflected a pass in past Darling to give the Surge a 2-1 lead.

The Surge would hold onto that lead until the 17:53 mark of the third period as Mike Tuomi tipped in a Kyle Lundale shot to tie the game up at two and took the crowd out of the game late in action.

In overtime, the teams exchanged chances as Scott Darling made key saves on a couple of two-on-ones to keep the game tied at two. But at the 3:27 mark of overtime, Ken Selby worked the puck out of the corner, brought it up into the slot and ripped a shot over Milan to give the RiverKings their first road win of the season.

The win improves Scott Darling to 5-10-1 on the season as he stopped 33 of 35 shots against. Corey Milan fell to 0-0-1 on the season as he turned away 27 of 30 RiverKings scoring chances.

The next RiverKings broadcasts will come on Friday and Saturday nights from Fayetteville as the RiverKings take on the FireAntz at 6:30. Both games will be aired on Sports 56 and America One.
