'Canes Recall Drayson Bowman from Charlotte

December 11, 2011 - American Hockey League (AHL) Charlotte Checkers

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Drayson Bowman from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). To make room for Bowman on the 23-man roster, goaltender Brian Boucher has been placed on injured reserve. Bowman is being recalled on an emergency basis for forward Jeff Skinner, who is out with an undisclosed injury.

Bowman, 22, has scored eight goals and earned six assists (14 points) in 23 games with the Checkers this season, and also has skated in two NHL games this year with the Hurricanes. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, but raised in Littleton, CO, Bowman is in his third professional season and has scored 37 goals and earned 39 assists (76 points) in 130 career AHL regular-season games. He made his NHL debut on Jan. 16, 2010, and has scored two goals and earned one assist (3 points) in 34 career NHL games with the Hurricanes. Carolina drafted Bowman in the third round, 72nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
