SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies center Nazem Kadri has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Month for November. Kadri tallied six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 12 games during the month to help the Marlies maintain control of first place in the AHL's North Division.
Kadri began the month by recording an assist in four consecutive games, and then scored his first goal of the season in overtime on Nov. 13, capping a three-point effort at Albany. Kadri had two assists in a 4-3 win over Peoria on Nov. 20, and helped the Marlies to a 4-3 overtime win at St. John's on Nov. 25 by notching two goals and two assists in the game. Kadri closed out November with another two-goal performance in a 4-3 OT loss to Grand Rapids on Nov. 29, his fifth consecutive game with a point.
A first-round draft pick (seventh overall) by Toronto in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kadri shows 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 14 games for the Marlies this season while also tallying one assist in three games with the Maple Leafs. The 21-year-old native of London, Ont., registered 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) in 44 games as a rookie with the Marlies in 2010-11, and had three goals and nine assists in 29 NHL games with the Leafs last season.
In recognition of his achievement, Kadri will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Marlies home game.
