
Snakes Win Two At Home; Play Two At Home This Weekend

Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths split their four games against the opposition this past week. The Snakes won home games against Knoxville on Tuesday and Huntsville on Friday before dropping a pair of two-goal decisions on the road at Louisiana on Saturday and the Mississippi RiverKings on Sunday. This week, Columbus plays twice at the Snake Pit against Pensacola on Friday night and Mississippi on Saturday night. Both games will be broadcast on America One Networks with both a video and audio feed, with a nominal fee for each game. A free audio-only webcast of the games is also available. Details can be found at www.cottonmouths.com. In addition, road games are now broadcast locally in the Columbus area on 107.7 FM.

The Cottonmouths face the Pensacola Ice Flyers for the final time at home on Friday night for the final time in the regular season. The Snakes have yet to visit Pensacola this season and will do so four times beginning December 17. The Flyers have handed the Snakes half of their regulation losses so far this season. Newly-acquired Pensacola goaltender Steve Christie shut out Huntsville in his first appearance for the team on Saturday night. The Mississippi Surge face the Snakes for only the second time this season on Saturday night. In their first meeting back on October 22, the Surge defeated Columbus in a shootout. Goaltender Nick Eno leads all SPHL goaltenders with a pair of shutouts on the season to date. PROMOTIONS: Player Card Giveawayset #2, while supplies last (minimum 1,000); Toy Drive! Tuesday, November 22 - Knoxville 2 at Columbus 4 (Attendance: 1,847)
Sam Bowles led the way with a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears on Tuesday night at the Snake Pit. Dave Cianfrini and Mitch Wall notched the other goals for the Cottonmouths in the game. The Snakes' four goals came in the first half of the game, with the final two goals 40 seconds apart and chasing Knoxville goaltender Jesse Kallechy out of net in favor of Bryan Hince. Kallechy would return to play in the third period and had 11 saves on 15 shots on goal in 48 minutes of work, with Hince stopping all four shots on goal he faced in the half-period of relief. Ian Vigier made 22 saves on 24 shots on goal in the winning effort in net for Columbus. Knoxville was 1 for 4 on the power play while the Cottonmouths were 0 for 3.
Friday, November 25 - Huntsville 2 at Columbus 3 (OT) (Attendance: 2,222)
The Snakes and Huntsville Havoc played their second straight overtime contest on Friday night at the Snake Pit. Instead of going to a shootout as the game the previous Friday did, however, Andrew Krelove scored in overtime to give Columbus the extra standing point and a 3-2 win. Tom Maldonado and Bret Tyler scored for Columbus in regulation. Andrew Loewen has 39 saves on 41 shots on goal for the win in net for Columbus, while Mark Sibbald took the overtime loss for Huntsville with 34 saves on 37 shots. Huntsville was 0 for 3 on the power play while Columbus was 1 for 3.
Saturday, November 26 - Columbus 2 at Louisiana 4 (Attendance: 1,211)
Levi Lind and Mitch Wall scored once apiece but it wasn't enough as the Louisiana IceGators defeated Columbus 4-2 at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Dan Earles was the winning goaltender for the `Gators with 21 saves on 23 shots while Ian Vigier had 20 saves on 24 shots on goal for Columbus. Columbus was 0 for 4 on the power play while the IceGators were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.
Sunday, November 27 - Columbus 4 at Mississippi RiverKings 6 (Attendance: 1,599)
Mitch Wall scored his second goal in as many games with Jordan Braid, Orrin Hergott, and Tom Maldonado scoring once each, but Mike Tuomi's hat trick led the Mississippi RiverKings offense in a 6-4 win over Columbus on Sunday afternoon in Southaven, Miss. Andrew Loewen made 27 saves on 33 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths while Mississippi's Scott Darling turned aside 32 of the 36 shots on goal he faced. Columbus was 0 for 6 on the power play while the RiverKings were 1 for 5.

1. F Mitch Wall - Wall had three goals and an assist over the week of games.
2. F Sam Bowles - Bowles's two-goal effort provided the spark for the Snakes in their Tuesday win over Knoxville.
3. F Jordan Braid - Braid scored a goal and two assists, scoring in three of the four games on the week.
