Parking Fees Reduced for Royals' Games

Reading, PA -The Reading Royals of the ECHL announced that the Reading Parking Authority has approved a reduction of the fee at city parking garages on Royals' game days to $5.00. The fee reduction, which was announced on Thursday, July 28, by RPA Executive Director Lawrence H. Lee, is part of Reading's celebration of the Sovereign Center's Tenth Birthday.

Last year, parking was $10.00 for premium and $8.00 for garage parking. This year premium parking (BARTA and State Lot) will be $7.00, while the DoubleTree Convention Center, South Penn, and Reed and Court Street Garages near Sovereign Center will be $5.00.

"This is a tremendous decision by the Reading Parking Authority to lower the parking rates for Royals games," stated Royals' General Manager Mark Wallace. "Larry Lee and the RPA have been open-minded in working with our organization in the past, but this re-pricing shows a true commitment to the Royals and our fans. It certainly should help in attracting more people to Royals games, thus benefitting our organization, the RPA and the City of Reading."

"The Berks County Convention Center Authority, SMG, the Royals and the Reading Express truly appreciate this reduction in parking rates to help bring more people downtown, especially as the Sovereign Center celebrates its 10th Anniversary."

"The Reading Parking Authority is delighted to team with the Sovereign Center and the Reading Royals to bring exciting and affordable entertainment to the City of Reading," said the RPA's Larry Lee. "The Authority and its board of directors want to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the Sovereign Center over the past ten years to the community with $5.00 special parking rates for hockey games for the 2012 season. Go Royals!"

In addition, the RPA will offer $2.00 parking (Premium and Regular Parking) for Royals games on Monday, January 16, 2012, (1:05 p.m. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Day Game) and Monday, February 20, (1:05 p.m. Presidents' Day Game).
