MADISON, WI - June 28, 2011. After losing to the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Monday, the Madison Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" to face the Woodchucks in a double-header beginning at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday.

The Mallards enter Tuesday's game sitting one-half game behind the Eau Claire Express for first-place in the South Division of the Northwoods League. With ten games remaining in the first half of the season, performing well in the two games Tuesday would go a long way in preparing the Ducks for a run at the first half title.

Pitching in game one for Madison will be Chris Burgess (Blackhawk College). Burgess is 3-0 on the season and has a 3.60 ERA through 25 innings pitched. Burgess has not faced Wisconsin yet this season.

Wisconsin will throw Tom Briner (UC - Davis). Briner has had a good start to his 2011 season, going 1-0 in two starts. He has not allowed an earned run in ten innings of work and has eight strikeouts.

Game two will begin about thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Starting for the Mallards will be newly-activated lefty Chris Lamb (Davidson). Lamb has not thrown for the team at all this season after having a good spring for the Wildcats, in which he struck out 85 in just over 81 innings of work.

Jonathan Boersma (CS - Dominguez Hills) will start for the Woodchucks. He too has had a solid start to the season for Wisconsin, appearing in eight games and starting two. Through 28.1 innings pitched, Boersma has walked seven, struck out six, and compiled an ERA of 1.91.

The double-header is part of a make-up of the postponed game from June 8th. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., with the Duck Blind and other hospitality locations opening at 5:05 p.m. Each game will be seven innings in length.

In the News

The Mallards have activated pitcher Estevan Uriegas (Texas A&M) for Tuesday's games. In 19 appearances for the Aggies, Uriegas went 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA, helping the team to the NCAA College World Series. He will wear number 45.

The team has also signed Brent Kuper (Parkland College) to a full-time roster spot. Kuper played catcher for the Cobras in the spring, and played in 38 games, hitting .247. Kuper will wear number 0 to help promote "Zero in Wisconsin," a campaign sponsored by the Wisconsin D.O.T. that reminds people to drive responsibly and safely in hopes of reducing the number of fatalities on the roads.
