
NBA, Boston Celtics Join Armor's Tornado Relief Efforts

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Springfield Armor announced today that they will be extending their online auction to June 22nd as a result of the addition of new autographed memorabilia items contributed by the NBA and the Boston Celtics. All proceeds from these items will be donated directly to the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross to assist relief efforts for the tornadoes that hit Western Massachusetts on June 1st.
The NBA has donated a limited edition 2011 NBA All-Star Game basketball autographed by 23 of the 24 players who participated, including Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and NBA Champion Dirk
Nowitzki, among others. The NBA has also provided a basketball autographed by John Wall, the 2010 NBA #1 overall draft choice out of Kentucky and current Washington Wizards' point guard.
The Boston Celtics have joined the Armor's tornado relief efforts as well with their contribution of a Celtics basketball autographed by every player on the 2010-11 final roster.
These items have been added to a collection of Armor and NBA memorabilia that includes a size 20 basketball shoe autographed by Brook Lopez and donated by the Armor's NBA affiliate, the New Jersey Nets, a pair of game-worn Armor basketball shorts, a game-worn home jersey autographed by the entire 2010-11 Armor team and a basketball signed by NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo.
The Armor are conducting the auction through online charitable auction site 32auctions. All major credit cards will be accepted through the secure PayPal system. The auction, which began Fri. June 3rd, will now run through 5:00 p.m. on Wed. June 22nd. The option to donate cash as a part of the Armor's total contribution to the Red Cross will remain open through June 22nd as well.
