Maine Red Claws forward DeShawn Sims was selected by the NBA D-League's 16 head coaches as the NBA Development League's 2010-11 Rookie of the Year. Joining Sims on the NBA D-League's inaugural All-Rookie First Team are Tulsa 66ers guard Jerome Dyson, Springfield Armor guard Scottie Reynolds, Iowa Energy forward Marqus Blakely, who ended the season with the Houston Rockets, and Rio Grande Valley Vipers center Patrick Sullivan. The All-Rookie Second Team features Tulsa guard Elijah Millsap, Maine guard Jamar Smith, Erie BayHawks forward Tasmin Mitchell, Rio Grande Valley forward Mouhammad Faye and Springfield center Chas McFarland. NEW MEXICO'S DAR TUCKER EARNS 2010-11 NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE MOST IMPROVED PLAYER AWARD
New Mexico Thunderbirds guard Dar Tucker was today named the 2010-11 NBA Development League Most Improved Player, as voted on by the 16 NBA D-League head coaches. The award honors the player who demonstrated the most significant improvement on the court throughout the course of the season. "You liken coaching to being an artist, and to have that type of canvas to work with the possibilities were limitless," said Thunderbirds coach Darvin Ham. "Dar bought into everything we were trying to do, stuck it out, worked through his weaknesses, and as the season wore on, his weaknesses became virtues. He was willing and able to explore his game in all aspects - not just scoring the ball."
