Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, Nev.- Reno Bighorns leading scorer Danny Green earned a GATORADE Call-Up from the San Antonio Spurs this morning, becoming the second Bighorns player this season to earn a season-long contract with the NBA's best team.
Green, a 6-6 guard out of North Carolina, joins former Bighorns forward Steve Novak on the 54-13 Spurs. Green and Novak are the first two players in Bighorns franchise history to earn GATORADE Call-Ups, and both have been signed by San Antonio for the remainder of the season.
In 16 games with Reno, Green has averaged 20.1 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. He has eclipsed the 20-point plateau in nine of his 16 games with Reno, including a season-high 36-point performance in Friday's 109-101 victory over Utah. In his last five games before earning the call-up, Green had averaged 25.6 points per game. The Bighorns went 11-5 with Green in the lineup since trading for him on Jan. 25.
While at North Carolina, Green set the record for most wins in Tar Heel history with 123. As a senior in 2008-09, he helped lead North Carolina to an NCAA national championship.
