Amy Freeze to Emcee 13th Annual Chicago Fire Season Kickoff Luncheon

CHICAGO, IL (Feb. 22, 2011) - The Chicago Fire Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, announced today that meteorologist, Chicago celebrity and long-time Fire sideline reporter Amy Freeze will emcee the 13th Annual Chicago Fire Season Kickoff Luncheon presented by Ticketmaster on Monday, March 14 at 11 AM CT at the Hyatt Regency Chicago (151 E. Wacker Dr. Chicago IL 60601).

Tickets for the 2011 Fire Season Kickoff Luncheon start at just $75 a person and $700 for a table. The first 20 full paid tables get the opportunity to sit with a Fire player. Tickets are available by calling 708-496-6740 or by heading to Chicago-Fire.com .

Freeze, renowned for her work as a meteorologist and her interaction with sports franchises throughout the Chicagoland area, served as the chief meteorologist for WFLD FOX 32 from 2007-2011. Freeze presented the weather during newscasts at 9 PM for the past five years and is one of the first 20 women to receive certification as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society. A three time Emmy winner, Freeze was the first-ever female sideline reporter for Major League Soccer working for the Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy and the Chicago Fire.

A graduate of Brigham Young University, Freeze began her broadcasting career in Portland, OR at FOX KPTV. Freeze later moved to Denver where she worked at KWGN and ABC affiliate KMGH before moving to Philadelphia and working for NBC's WCAU for four years. While in Philadelphia, the Indiana native would travel to New York City to fill in for the "Weekend Today Show".

In addition to working the sideline and reporting weather at Chicago sporting events, Freeze visits about 10,000 Chicago area students each year, giving weather presentations on tornadoes and severe weather. Freeze has hosted Weather Education Days with the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Wolves.

The annual season kickoff luncheon, which supports the Chicago Fire Foundation, offers Fire supporters the first opportunity to meet the 2011 Chicago Fire team and raise funds in the name of charity. In addition to interacting with Fire players, coaches and technical staff, the event includes a reception, formal lunch and silent auction, where attendees can bid on Fire and other sports memorabilia, gift certificates, player worn gear and much more. All proceeds benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation.

The Fire host Opening Day at TOYOTA PARK against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, March 26 at 3:00 PM CT. The Men in Red will begin their 14th MLS season during "First Kick" week when they travel to Dallas to challenge Brimstone Cup rivals and MLS Cup runners up FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 PM CT.
