Louisiana IceGators News Release
LAFAYETTE, LA - The IceGators are proud to announce that the Southern Plainsmen will be performing the National Anthem at the IceGators' game against the Mississippi Surge on Friday, January 21.
The Southern Plainsmen Quartet was organized in May 1978 in the West-Central Louisiana. They perform as an outreach of the Southern Plainsmen Ministries, Inc., a non-profit Christian organization. Their ministry is supported by the contributions of its Christian friends and they appear in Christian churches regardless of denominational affiliation on an expense plus freewill-love-offering basis.
The quartet is mad up of Marcelle Slaughter as tenor, Jordan Mothershed as the lead, the baritone Allen Doyle, and Mike Burkhalter as bass. The group has put out numerous CDs and their most recent CD was Simply Faith in 2008. In 1998, Governor Mike Foster appointed the Southern Plainsmen "Louisiana's Ambassadors of Goodwill".
