
Mallards Sign Cooper; Slais Waived

MOLINE, Ill.anuary 4, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed forward Kevin Cooper and have waived forward Eric Slais.
Cooper, 29, started this season in Germany with E.V. Duisburg, for whom he scored nine goals and notched 24 points in 13 games. Last year the 5' 9", 185-pound Toronto native played for three different CHL teams- the Texas Brahmas, Mississippi RiverKings and Wichita Thunder- and totaled 12 goals and 22 points in 51 games. Cooper spent the prior two campaigns with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. In all, Cooper has scored 126 goals and totaled 257 points in 336 career games over the course of seven seasons.
Before turning pro, Cooper enjoyed a standout four-year career at Vermont's Middlebury College. As a senior Cooper propelled the Panthers to the 2004 NCAA Division III title by scoring the winning goal in overtime of the national championship game. Cooper was named 2003-04 Division III National Player of the Year after scoring 35 goals and recording 57 points in 30 games in his final season at Middlebury. A three-time All-American, Cooper scored 99 goals and produced 159 points in 114 career collegiate games.
Slais picked up one assist in five games after signing with the Mallards last Monday.
The Mallards return to action Friday at 7:05 p.m. on home ice against the Tulsa Oilers. The first 1,000 fans ages 12 and under through the doors of the i wireless Center for that game will receive free kids' 40" wooden hockey sticks courtesy of CBS 4 and 97X.
Tickets for tonight's game- and all Mallards regular season home games- are available in person at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the end of the first period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the end of the first period.
