Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths made several roster moves this week. Last Friday, the Snakes signed Peter MacDougall to a three-game tryout. MacDougall comes to the Snakes after four seasons at Canisius College, where he was teammates with Snakes goaltender Andrew Loewen. MacDougall plays both forward and defense. Today, the Snakes signed defenseman Jeff Macphee. Macphee played three games with the Mississippi Surge this season. Prior to that, he spent four seasons at SUNY-Geneseo, where he collected 27 points in 98 games. Defenseman Cody Straker and forward Zeanan Ziemer have been placed on waivers.
Due to arena scheduling conflicts, the Snakes have made two changes to their game schedule. The Snakes road game scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 9 against the Mississippi Surge will now be played on Friday, Nov. 19 in Augusta against the RiverHawks. The Snakes home game scheduled for Monday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. has been moved to Tuesday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m.
The Snakes host the Mississippi Surge this Sunday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. It is our first of two Military Appreciation Nights this season, and the Cottonmouths are hosting a 'Sponsor a Soldier' promotion. Fans can sponsor a soldier by making a $5 donation. Each $5 donation will purchase a game ticket for a soldier who has recently returned from deployment with the 3rd Brigade. Every sponsor will be recognized on our Sponsor a Soldier webpage on cottonmouths.com, and will also be entered to win two free airline tickets, courtesy of American Eagle Airlines. Sponsor a Soldier tickets have been distributed to members of the 3rd Brigade at Ft. Benning.
In addition to welcoming members of the 3rd Brigade, the Snakes invite all military personnel and their families to Sunday's game. Upper level tickets can be purchased for $5 by anyone who shows their military ID at the box office. Special military jerseys will be worn and auctioned following the game. It's also Burger King Kids Day. Fans can stop by area Burger Kings and pick up vouchers for a free child's ticket to Sunday's game. A canned food drive will be held, presented by the Valley Rescue Mission. Fans are encouraged to bring canned foods to donate to those less fortunate this holiday season.
