(Waldorf, MD): The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are excited to announce Regency Furniture Stadium has been named 2010 Atlantic League Ballpark of the Year. The honor comes in the third season for the facility. The award is the culmination of a variety of factors, including the quality of the facility itself, game-day atmosphere and customer service.

The unique look of Regency Furniture Stadium, straying from the beaten path of typical ballpark design, is what stands out most about the facility. With its distinctive tobacco barn design to reflect Southern Maryland, "this uniqueness has made this ballpark stand out from the others and become one of the jewels of minor league baseball," according to the renowned industry website, DigitalBallparks.com. The stadium was also named Digital Ballpark's best for 2010 earlier in the summer.

Once inside, several more aspects of Regency Furniture Stadium stand out from other facilities. The picnic area in left field, dubbed the Texas Roadhouse Corral, features a huge tented section that can accommodate up to 200 hundred fans for a Texas Roadhouse all-you-can-eat buffet along with taking in the ballgame.

The more upscale Legends Club, a sizeable party and banquet facility located down the left field line, provides the stadium maximum versatility for parties both during games, and non-game day and offseason events. There are also seats outside the Legends Club, allowing fans to blend the comfort of watching the game indoors with the true feel of the ballpark, with an incredible view down the left field line.

Other unique features of Regency Furniture Stadium that impress include "Crabby Cove," the Blue Crabs 54,000 gallon bumper boat pond, with a sand beach area below where parents still have a terrific view of the game in left-center field, while being able to keep an eye on their children as they play.

Known as one of the most family-friendly facilities in all of minor league baseball, the "PNC Kids Zone" Playground also stands out, complete with slides, a bounce house, obstacle courses and even a rock climbing wall.

The luxury suites at Regency Furniture Stadium span two levels, and each have their own bathroom facilities and private seating areas outside, allowing each suite holder to take ownership of their own unique space.

"As a front office staff, it doesn't get much better than this, it's quite an honor," said Blue Crabs General Manager Chris Allen. "We are elated for Regency Furniture Stadium to be Atlantic League Ballpark of the Year, because it's truly an award for our entire staff to enjoy, all the way to our terrific game-day employees. We pride ourselves on not only having a great facility and game-day atmosphere, but top-notch customer service as well. This award is truly a reflection of the passion all our employees and fans bring with them to the ballpark each day."

The Stadium Operations and Facilities Manager for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs is Matthew Myers. Myers oversees the day-to-day upkeep and cleanliness of Regency Furniture Stadium. The Blue Crabs Marketing Manager is Courtney Freeland, overseeing in-game promotions, entertainment and special events.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, and play at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland. The 2010 season is presented by the Civista Health Foundation. The franchise will be entering its fourth season in 2011, coming off back-to-back playoff appearances and a team record 82 wins in 2010.
