IceGators Sign Two Former Havoc Players

LAFAYETTE, LA - The Louisiana IceGators are proud to announce the addition of two Southern Professional Hockey League Champions, Martin Kubaliak (6'3", 225 lbs) and Dennis Sicard (5'11", 183 lbs.) to the 2010-11 roster. Both of these guys played for the Huntsville Havoc last season.
Martin Kubaliak is a defenseman from Slovakia. He has spent 2008-10 playing for the Huntsville Havoc. He saw action in 105 games, had 49 points and had 204 penalty minutes. During the 2009-10 season, he was tied for 14th in points, with 21, and 10th in penalty minutes, with 126, amongst defensemen.
"Martin [Kubaliak] is a steady defensemen," answered IceGators Head Coach Dave MacIsaac when asked about Kubaliak. "He has big tough man and he will be able to lead our defensemen. We hope he will be able to help anchor the toughest group of defensemen this season."
Dennis Sicard was a key to the 2009-10 Huntsville Havoc championship. Last season he was 21st amongst forwards with 20 goals. Sicard was an extremely physical player, he was 4th in the league with 234 penalty minutes. He has spent the last three seasons playing in the SPHL. Sicard started with the Richmond Renegades but was traded to the Huntsville Havoc during the 2008-09 season.
"Dennis [Sicard] isn't a real big guy but he is lightning fast," replied MacIsaac when asked about the signing. "He will help give our team an attitude and help protect all of ours players because of his physical play. Martin [Kubaliak] and he are going to help bring a winning attitude to our franchise."
