Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Majors goaltender JP Anderson has signed with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. The 18 year old is entering his third season with the Majors. He went undrafted in this past NHL Entry Draft and was invited to Sharks camp as a free agent.
"We really like what J.P. has shown us and we think he has tremendous upside," said Wilson. "We like that he will continue to develop under Mississauga General Manager/Head Coach Dave Cameron and we will be monitoring his progress."
Anderson, 18, appeared in two of San Jose's three games during the YoungStars Tournament in Penticton, B.C. from Sept. 12-16 and posted a 2-0 record, a 2.00 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.
The Toronto, Ontario native spent the past two seasons with Mississauga. Last season, he posted a 23-10-1 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and two shutouts in 36 games.
In the post season, Anderson had a 4-5-1 record in 10 games, along with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage.
During the 2008-09 season, Anderson led all OHL rookie goaltenders with a 2.94 goals-against average and his 2.50 GAA during the 2009 postseason was the best of any OHL netminder.
